A talk about Roles in a Setting (2015)
A TALK ABOUT ROLES IN A SETTING is a performative work consisting of a presentation for 12 persons in a set design describing public and private environments. A book published in relation to the work is setting focus on the visual body’s influence on how gender identity is experienced through the two terms role and setting. Questions are asked about how roles and individual presumptions change when the environment is transposed and seen through alternative perspectives.
In gender studies the term gender performativity is describing how gender and sexual identities occur and are maintained by constantly repeated actions, espe- cially through a mediation by Judith Butler. (1993) Butler describes the constitution of distinct gender identity and specific sexuality as occurring from norms that are not of ones owns making. (2004: 15)

”ACTOR: ...we are all controlled in this way. The body have learned those patterns for what it can or can not do in this environment and our body is acting from impulses.”
